We here at Unfold told you we would be reviewing Hooka, so ‘hair’ it is (Come on, you had to have seen that coming?). When I told my Mum I had a Hooka appointment today she looked at me bewildered. After 10 minutes of reassurance and a lot of convincing I was able to convince her that her son wasn’t partaking in casual prostitution and was actually about to get one of the best haircuts he has ever had. Located on Wood Street, the road beside Bold Street, North West Salon of the year winner Hooka is a unisex hair salon that offered an immensely impressive service from beginning to finish. You may ask yourself, why the hell is a student website reviewing a hair salon? My reply would be you can’t get pissed all the time my friend and in a few weeks into your degree you are going to need a place to chop that hair of yours. Upon arrival I was greeted in an extremely professional and friendly way and offered hot or cold drinks on several services. Usually getting my haircut is an annoyance and I want to be in and out of there as quick as possible but the relaxing atmosphere accompanied with very gracious staff made getting your hair cut enjoyable.

Let’s face it fellow males, we are hopeless as a sex in a lot of aspects in life. Ironing, lying, shopping, standing up for long periods of time, advice on a partners outfit, washing clothes without something going wrong, just to name a few. As metro-sexual as I view myself and as in touch with my feminine side as I am, nothing compares to the advice and insight of an advanced hairstylist. Don’t be afraid to admit we suck, men (without that comma that sentence could be very different). As much as I have attempted to be the modern man, I need guidance as grooming leaves me perplexed and that guidance came from Hooka.

Throughout the whole time of getting my hair cut my excellent stylist talked me through everything she was doing and made sure my experience as a customer was unique and corresponded to all my wants. Not only are the staff completely advanced professionals in how they cut your hair, they also have supplies such as these which definitely makes the difference;

Here is a before picture of myself with long, messy hair that quite obviously has affected my mood and made me miserable…

Here is a picture straight after my haircut with fresh, shorter and smarter hair. Before you say anything, I know, my Paint skills are awesome. You are probably asking yourself how I get the time to put the hours in to become such a talented designer, it’s all about hard work.

So book an appointment with Hooka ladies and gentleman next time you need a haircut or any other beauty treatments, they do a lot. I was toying with the idea of a wax or a spray tan for strict entertainment purposes but after watching the 40 year old virgin, the pain doesnt look worth the laughter. All prices and queries can be answered on their website www.hooka-uk.co.uk, or alternatively give them a like on Facebook or follow them on Twitter in order to keep up with their new offers and products. Fancy salons aren’t just for girls, break against the mould and become the modern man. For all you girls out there Hooka offers amazing prices in comparison to the quality it promises with a range of beauty techniques designed to make you feel fabulous (I have tried reading that sentence without a camp voice and come to the conclusion its impossible). They even offer all you students 20% discount, see even they care about you, they understand that the extra cash is valuable vodka money. In a fantastic location with amazing design and architecture that is only heightened by the warmth of the staff who are all remarkably skilled; Hooka is a huge recommendation of mine.
